It appears that fans may have to wait a little longer to watch the MCU films they have been wanting to see due to some substantial adjustments to the Marvel calendar. Phase 5 and Phase 6 releases, which included movies like Avengers: Secret Wars and Fantastic Four at Comic-Con in 2022, have now been postponed by the studio.

Deadpool 3’s new release date
Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine in Deadpool 3 was teased in an exciting teaser video, and now the movie has a revised release date, shifting from September 6, 2024 to November 8, 2024. Expectations are high for Deadpool 3 because Shawn Levy is directing it after working with Ryan Reynolds on Free Guy and The Adam Project, both of which were huge successes. If anything, Jackman’s inclusion has fueled the enthusiasm of the audience for the movie. Although Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of the Wolverine ended with the 2017 film Logan, in which the character passed away, it will be intriguing to see how he fits into the Deadpool timeline.
Avengers: Secret Wars
Marvel stunned everyone when they revealed a new Avengers film at Comic-Con this year. The release date of Avengers: Secret Wars, which will serve as the capstone to the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, has been moved up from November 7, 2025, to May 1, 2026. Since the company had already announced two new Avengers movies, it appears like Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will continue to have its May 2, 2025, release date. Secret Wars has reportedly yet to find a director, according to reports from the studio. At the She-Hulk premiere, Mark Ruffalo recently discussed Avengers: Secret Wars and whether it will surpass Avengers: Endgame, telling Entertainment Tonight that it will certainly be a “big bang.”
Mahershala Ali’s Blade
Blade, starring Mahershala Ali, has also been delayed from its initial November 3, 2023 release date to September 6, 2024. The revelation of the movie’s new release date comes about two weeks after it was revealed that the movie is looking for a new director after director Bassam Tariq left the eagerly awaited project. The vampire adventure movie has reportedly been placed on hold due to the temporary halting of its production-related operations in Atlanta, according to The Hollywood Reporter. After a new director is hired, the company allegedly plans to resume production in the first half of 2023.
Blade has already undergone a number of script revisions, and its chief writer is presently Beau DeMayo, who has also contributed to Marvel’s Moon Knight and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Recent rumours have also stated that, in the event that a second season of the programme is not confirmed, Moon Knight may appear in Blade next as Oscar Isaac has hinted at the character’s return.
Fantastic Four
A significant news for Fantastic Four was recently made at Disney’s D23 Expo after it was revealed that WandaVision director Matt Shakman will be directing the movie. This announcement is regarded as one of the biggest highlights of Marvel’s phase 6. The new announcement has moved the release date of Fantastic Four from November 8, 2024, to February 14, 2025. The four leads have not yet been cast for the movie. Following rumours that she was a candidate for the role of Sue Storm, which fans have also been claiming has been given to Emily Blunt, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan recently addressed MCU casting rumours and claimed that she hasn’t been approached yet.
On Jimmy Fallon’s talk show, John Krasinksi, who recently played Reed Richards’ alter ego Mr. Fantastic in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, was questioned about whether he will play the same part in the upcoming Fantastic Four. However, the actor remained tight-lipped on the subject.
