At this year’s Dadasaheb Phalke Awards, President Droupadi Murmu will shortly give renowned Hindi film actress, director, and producer Asha Parekh with the lifetime achievement award for her services to the business. The honour for the actress was revealed on Twitter by the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Singh Thakur. He wrote on Twitter, “Honored to announce that Asha Parekh ji will be honoured and presented with a prize by the Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Jury for her remarkable lifetime contribution to Indian film. The Hon. President of India will present the Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the 68th NFA in Vigyan Bhawan (sic).
Under the stage name Baby Asha Parekh, Asha Parekh launched her career as a child artist at the age of ten with the movie “Maa.” Her professional life has lasted approximately five decades. The social family drama’s director for Bombay Talkies was Bimal Roy. The film’s director was asked to fly from Kolkata to Bombay in order to complete the task for the struggling company.
After seeing Asha Parekh perform on stage, Bimal Roy hired her for the movie and used her again in “Baap Beti.” She was dismayed by the failure of the latter picture, and although taking on a few more kid roles, she left the industry to go back to school.

Later, she was chosen by movie producer Subodh Mukherjee and writer-director Nasir Hussain (the uncle of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan) to play the lead opposite Shammi Kapoor in “Dil Deke Dekho.” She became a famous star as a result of this. Additionally, Asha and Nasir’s enduring friendship was fostered through the film. The actress confirmed even their alleged romance in her memoirs, “The Hit Girl.”
In 1992, she was given the Padma Shri award in honour of her contributions to the film industry. After appearing in “Andolan” three years after her cameo in “Sar Aankhon Par” in 1999, Asha Parekh decided to hang up her acting hat.
