In her next film Taali – Bajaungi Nahi, Bajwaungi, Bollywood actress and former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen will play transgender activist Shreegauri Sawant.
Through her Instagram, the actress debuted the movie’s first look. “Taali!” Sushmita penned as the caption. #firstlook as #ShreegauriSawant (I won’t clap, but I’ll get others to) Nothing gives me greater joy and gratitude than to represent this lovely person and tell the world about her! Salutations to life and to everyone’s right to a dignified existence! I’m in love with you people.
Sushmita Sen said of the film: “That’s Shreegauri Sawant for you. (It’s) A story of struggle, resilience, and unbreakable power. Nothing gives me greater joy and gratitude than returning from this difficult journey and seeing a revolution in action.
The project, according to Sushmita Sen, was “special” for her for a number of reasons. Stay tuned to find out what’s in store; this is just the beginning,” she added.

Shreegauri Sawant is a transgender rights advocate from Mumbai who was born Ganesh and raised in Pune. She was one of the petitioners for the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), which was filed in 2013 and for which the Supreme Court recognised transgender people as belonging to a third gender in a decision rendered in 2014.
