In her decades-long career, Cher has had her fair share of highly publicised events, and the renowned singer repeated the feat on Wednesday when she made an unexpected appearance at the Balmain Paris Fashion Week show.
The 76-year-old finished the Balmain spring/summer 2023 fashion show in classic diva style, prancing down the runway with Olivier Rousteing, the designer of Balmain.
The chorus of Cher’s 1999 smash song “Strong Enough” played over the speakers as she emerged from backstage, and the tens of thousands of spectators at Paris’ Jean Bouin Stadium roared their approval as she walked down the marble-inspired runway (in towering platform heels no less).
Cher had actually opened Balmain’s latest show with the words “All of us invent ourselves — some of us just have more imagination than others,” but no one in the audience could’ve expected the singer to actually show up on the runway, along with models Ashley Graham, Dove Cameron, Brooklyn Beckham, Nicola Peltz, and Brazilian soccer star Neymar.

— Cher (@cher) September 28, 2022After the performance, Cher expressed her delight over the historic occasion on Twitter, writing, “Just had [the] nicest time on stage… felt wonderful! Most likely the best fashion show ever.
The singer may have also been influenced by her catwalk appearance; she hasn’t performed since her “Here We Go Again Tour” was cancelled due to Covid in March 2020. She tweeted, “[The] stage was calling me.” Cher, oh Cher, I hear you. Come home.
Rousteing’s most recent collection, dubbed the “Balmain Festival,” showed off a fusion of tribal and futuristic elements as he sent models down the runway in flowing gowns, sculpted blazers, and jackets and tops painted in watercolor-style patterns.
This is not Cher’s first high-fashion partnership of the year; earlier this summer, she collaborated with Donatella Versace on a limited-edition “Chersace” collection that was unveiled in connection with Pride.
